Save Devon's Domestic Abuse Services
Following the devastating news that Devon County Council propose to make a 100% reduction in their contribution to adva for next year we are launching a campaign to bring about a reversal of this decision.
adva funds the following services in Devon, all of which will be cut if the proposal is approved:
- Outreach services in each District (for women and men victims)
- IDVAs to support Devon's 4 MARACs
- IDVAs to support Devon's 3 SDVCs
- Children and young people's workers in 2 of Devon's refuges
- Children's outreach workers
- Young People's outreach workers
- Women Support Workers (linked to the Perpetrator programme)
- Perpetrator programmes (REPAIR)
- Pattern-changing programmes for victims
- Awareness-raising activities
- All adva training
- SEEDS Devon (Survivors Reference Group)
- Support to BME communities
- Support to Devon's Sexual Abuse Line
- Specialist DV social worker post in North Devon, part of Early Response Team
- Awareness-raising activities
As far as Stop Abuse For Everyone (SAFE) is concerned the proposed cuts would completely end all of our Outreach and IDVA work as well as any support for children and young people in the refuge. This co-ordinated provision has been built up over the last decade in response to demand and all the workers have a breadth of skills, training and experience that provides outstanding services to all affected by domestic violence and abuse in the community and to the children and young people in the refuge.
Browse this website to understand the work of the children and young people's team in the Refuge and the work done by Outreach workers and the IDVAs.
SAFE and our two sister organisations in Devon funded by adva - North Devon Women's Aid and Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (South and West Devon) have come together to campaign against this proposal.
