Very short formalities will be followed by Premier screening of the film The Refuge Manifesto. The result of a 10 week art project involving artists and women about all aspects of personal refuge.

Prints by Catherine Cartwright that explore the visualisation of domestic abuse particularly coercive control shown alongside prints from Paula Rego’s series about FGM

Something in the Woodshed
a talk by art historian Maggie Giraud, looking at a gallery of artists who have challenged traditional portrayals of women. With reference to Balthus, Degas, Grosz, Hopper, Manet, Magritte, Picasso, Rego and Sickert.
